The Brazil Issue

Alexandre Orion is my newest discovery, although he has been around for quite a while. I am just delighted by his work and felt the need to share it with you!

Orion creates urban interventions; in his Metabiotics series he photographed the interaction and dialogue between people and his graffiti/paintings. Orion said that he sometimes had to wait months to take one photograph.

Another mint work of Alexandre is called Art Less Polution, where he goes to a tunnel, where the walls are filled with dust and soot, and rather than painting it over, he simply removes the dust creating his art. In this case he “painted” skulls, and as Jose de Souza Martins puts it, Orion is ‘quietly criticizing our omission, our comfortable acceptance with pollution’.
